Lansing, MI

History

Lansing Brewing Company first opened in 1898, a year after Ransom E. Olds drove a car down a Lansing street, and closed in 1914 under Prohibition pressure. Pat and Jennifer Gillespie revived the name in 2015 and moved the pub to 518 E. Shiawassee Street in the Stadium District. In February 2024 Mark Rieth, founder of Detroit’s Atwater Brewery, bought about a 90 percent stake through Detroit Liquid Ventures. The pub still brews on site and hosts music.
