Riff

Terms of Service

Last updated October 14, 2026. This is the standard agreement for using Riff. It is not legal advice.

1. Acceptance

Riff is a live-music board: city guides, rooms, bands, a player, and optional accounts. By creating an account, or by keeping an account after these terms are posted, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Code of Conduct. If you do not agree, do not create an account.

2. The board is not a ticket seller

Listings are a guide to public performances. A show page is not a ticket, a reservation, or a promise that the night will happen. Prices stay unmarked unless the listing itself prints a number or says the night is free. Doors, ages, and support acts change. Buy tickets, if you buy them, from the venue or the seller linked on the listing.

3. Accounts

You need a username, an email, and a password, or you can continue with Google or X. Usernames are unique. Once you take one, it is locked: it cannot be changed, and nobody else can use it. You are responsible for your password and for what happens under your account. Apple sign-in is not offered. You must be able to form a contract where you live. Do not create an account for someone else or with an address you do not control.

4. What you post

Reviews, photos, chat, friend requests, and messages are yours. You give Riff a non-exclusive license to store and show that material so the board can work: display your review, deliver a message to an accepted friend, and show your photo on your profile. You promise you have the right to post it, and that it does not break the Code of Conduct or someone else’s rights.

Friend requests are not automatic. The other person can accept or reject. Messages are only between people who have accepted. We may remove a post or close an account that breaks these terms.

5. Newsletter

The weekly show digest is optional. If you check the box at signup, or join from the footer, we store that email on the newsletter list and may send one note a week about shows. You can leave the list from My Riff, or from the footer after you join. We do not sell the list.

6. Music, names, and marks

Band names, venue names, artwork, and recordings belong to their owners. Riff uses them so you can find the room. The player only embeds a clip that is already public. Nothing here is a license to the music. The Riff name and skyline mark belong to this app. Don’t scrape the board to rebuild it. See the copyright note and the privacy note.

7. Acceptable use

Don’t use Riff to break the law, harass people, send spam, impersonate a band or a venue, probe or overload the service, or scrape it in bulk. Don’t post anyone’s private information. The Code of Conduct is part of these terms.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The board is provided “as is.” Listings can be wrong, late, or incomplete. We don’t promise that a room is open, that a player clip will stream, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent the law allows, Riff is not liable for lost tickets, missed shows, or indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the board. Some places do not allow those limits. In those places, the limits apply only as far as the law allows.

9. Ending use

You can stop using Riff at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the Code of Conduct, or if we have to shut the board down. Sections that should survive — the license you already gave for material you posted, disclaimers, and liability limits — stay in effect.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continued use of an account after an update means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, except where a non-waivable consumer law where you live says otherwise.
