History
Airport Tavern, 5406 S. Tacoma Way, takes its name from the South Tacoma Airport, which operated from 1936 to 1975 nearby. A tavern had occupied the building for decades before Danno and Jessica Rankin took over in 2017, added pinball, and grew Reggae on the Way from a block party into a summer festival. A Music Hall inside the same building was finished in 2024 for larger shows. October 2026 bills include Kota the Friend (Oct. 22) (airporttavern.com about text via MapQuest; Bandsintown).
