Theodore's

201 Worthington St, Springfield, MA · about 120

History

Theodore’s opened in 1979 on Worthington Street in a building put up in 1902, and original owner Theodore A. Rauh turned it toward national blues acts in the early 1990s. Keith Weppler and Keith Makarowski bought the club from Rauh in 1999 and kept the slogan of booze, blues, and barbecue. In 2004 the Blues Foundation gave it a Keeping the Blues Alive award as best blues club in the country. The stage has hosted players such as Johnny Winter, Rod Piazza, and Luther Allison.
