History

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts is the roughly 2,000-seat hall on the Boise State campus at 2201 W. Cesar Chavez Lane. The Morrison Center says it opened April 7, 1984, with My Fair Lady; the about page credits Harry W. Morrison’s dream and his widow Velma, and the history page says the about $17 million building was a partnership of the State Board of Education, Boise State, and the Harry W. Morrison Foundation. At the 10-year mark it was renamed for Velma. It presents touring Broadway and is home to seasons by Boise Philharmonic, Ballet Idaho, and Opera Idaho.
