History
Club Dada opened in September 1986 at 2720 Elm Street in Deep Ellum, founded by Tom Henvey, Doak Boettiger, and David Border of the avant-garde troupe Victor Dada as a room for poetry, comedy, and performance. It grew into a live-music cornerstone of the neighborhood and hosted early shows by acts such as the Flaming Lips, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, and Tripping Daisy. The club closed around 2009 and was revived in January 2011, and it still books indie, rock, hip-hop, electronic, and other local and touring shows.
