History
Underground Arts is a roughly 650-capacity club in the basement of the Wolf Building at 1200 Callowhill Street in Spring Garden. Owners Gary Reuben and Gary Reisner used a 2010 Creative Industry Workforce Grant to turn the former Convention Center storage space into a 12,000-square-foot room for music, theater, and visual art. The venue’s own history says the stage has held Parliament-Funkadelic, the GZA, Julien Baker, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Khruangbin, and Guided by Voices, and the walls carry installations by Philadelphia artists including Nosego.
