History

Rose Music Hall sits at 1013 Park Avenue in Columbia’s North Village Arts District. In 1999 Blue Note owner Richard King bought the nearby club then called Mojo’s; after he sold The Blue Note and Mojo’s in 2014 to Matt Gerding and Scott Leslie, Mojo’s was renamed Rose Music Hall on January 1, 2015, for Columbia writer, bassist, and Tribune columnist Forrest Rose. FPC Live, which operates the room with The Blue Note, lists the indoor hall at about 300 capacity. Adjoining Forrest Rose Park, maintained by the same staff, began hosting outdoor shows in 2008 and is listed at about 1,200. Bookings at the hall and park have included Arcade Fire, Spoon, Portugal. The Man, the Breeders, and Chance the Rapper. Sources: Rose Music Hall about page; FPC Live venue notes; COMO Magazine, Nov. 30, 2020; Wikipedia entry for The Blue Note (Columbia, Missouri).
