History
The Aragon Ballroom stands at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood and opened on July 15, 1926. Brothers who already ran the South Side Trianon built it as a dance hall; architects Huszagh & Hill gave it a Spanish Baroque exterior, and movie-palace designer John Eberson shaped the interior like a Moorish castle courtyard around a vast dance floor. It has passed through eras as a ballroom, a brief run as the Cheetah Club, and a rock hall booked for decades by Jam Productions. Live Nation has operated it since 2017; naming rights made it the Byline Bank Aragon in 2019, and the room holds about 5,000.
