Pinkie Master's

318 Drayton St, Savannah, GA · about 120

History

Pinkie Master’s began as the Rainbow Grill, opened around 1951 by boxer Luis Chris Masterpolis, known as Pinkie, and regulars soon called it by his name. The small cash-only Drayton Street dive poured cheap Pabst, ran a jukebox, and drew politicians; Pinkie was an early backer of Jimmy Carter, who later climbed onto the bar to eulogize him after Pinkie died in 1977. The bar closed for a time around 2015 and was revived by longtime regulars as The Original Pinkie Masters.
