Girl in a Coma is an indie rock band from San Antonio, Texas, formed by Nina Diaz on vocals and guitar, her sister Phanie Diaz on drums, and Jenn Alva on bass. The name nods to the Smiths song "Girlfriend in a Coma," and the trio built a punk-leaning alternative sound that landed them on Joan Jett's Blackheart Records. Their records include Both Before I'm Gone (2007), Trio B.C. (2009), and Exits & All the Rest (2011). After a breakup in 2018 they reunited in 2024, playing San Antonio rooms including Paper Tiger and opening Phanie Diaz's Rah Rah Room.
