Skilla Baby

Bio

Skilla Baby is Trevon Gardner, a Detroit rapper born October 2, 1998. Wikipedia says his father played him everything from Luther Vandross to Lil Wayne and told Motown-era stories, and that a fifth-grade reading of Langston Hughes’ “Mother to Son” pushed him toward writing. He picked up the nickname Skillz playing basketball; after his father died when Gardner was 15, he turned toward rap. Sada Baby helped break him locally. The 2019 mixtape Push That Shit Out Skilla and the 2020 song “Womack” led to a Geffen deal and the 2022 project We Eat the Most. He is a Detroit artist, not a visitor.
