History

Funk ’n Waffles began with Syracuse University students Kyle Corea and Adam Gold, who made odd waffles at house parties and sold them beside live bands. Syracuse.com reported they opened the first shop on Marshall Street in 2006; Corea left in 2012, and a 2013 spot on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives pushed the name. The downtown room at 307–313 S. Clinton Street marked ten years in December 2024. The house site still books the stage. (syracuse.com, Dec. 4, 2024; funknwaffles.com.)
