Knight Concert Hall, Adrienne Arsht Center

1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL, 33132
History
The John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall is the concert room of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, on Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast 13th and 14th Streets. The center was designed by César Pelli with theater planner Joshua Dachs and acousticians Artec, broke ground in fall 2001, and opened in 2006 at a project cost the Arsht lists as $472 million. The hall is named for the Knight Foundation’s support and seats 2,200, including about 200 choral-riser seats upstage that can be used by performers or the audience. It is built as a room within a room to isolate it from outside noise and is a Miami home for the New World Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra’s Miami dates, and series such as Jazz Roots.
