History

Artist and former sign painter Bill Christman opened Joe's Cafe in 2003 in a house at 6104 Kingsbury Avenue in Skinker-DeBaliviere as a place for musician friends to play. The BYOB, bring-your-own-food listening room, usually open on Thursdays, books an eclectic mix of jazz, poetry, and other live music in an intimate, art-filled space where Christman introduces the acts and asks the room to listen.
