Nick-a-Nee's

75 South St, Providence, RI · about 120

History

Stephanie Finizia opened Nick-a-Nee's in 1996 in a cinder-block building at 75 South Street in Providence's Jewelry District. The name comes from her childhood mispronunciation of Stephanie, and her sister Denise Marie "Rusty" Finizia has bartended there since the start. The cash-only, dog-friendly room books local musicians from bluegrass to jazz with no cover, including a weekly Wednesday bluegrass showcase, and once packed the house for a surprise Gillian Welch and David Rawlings set.
