History

Randy Hoder, Kenny Spitzbard, and Stuart Press opened BAR in 1991 at 254 Crown Street as a bar and dance club in a former off-track-betting office. In 1996 they added food and went after New Haven’s hardest competition, apizza, from brick ovens in what became the Brü Room. The club brews its own beer, keeps a dance floor in the back, and still runs as a pizza tavern and nightspot.
