History
Matt Chiasson and Mark Falgout, who also owns the Blue Moon Saloon, opened The Grouse Room around 2015 in Parc Lafayette as a speakeasy-style music bar. The name nods to The Famous Grouse scotch, a Christmas bottle Chiasson’s father used to bring, and the walls were a gallery for photographs by Chiasson’s brother John, who died in 2013. The room booked blues, jazz, classic rock, and late-night DJs. Chiasson moved it in 2020 to a larger Jefferson Street building downtown; that venue closed in 2025 after a creditor moved to seize the property.
