History

Taxidermist Dean Eldredge built the Museum Club in 1931 on Route 66 east of Flagstaff, a giant log cabin he filled with mounted animals and curios and billed as the biggest log cabin around; locals called it the Zoo. After he died, saddle maker Doc Williams bought the building and in 1936 opened it as a nightclub. In 1963 steel guitarist Don Scott and his wife, Thorna, turned it into a country dance hall that booked Bob Wills, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. Martin and Stacie Zanzucchi bought it in 1978 and kept it a roadhouse for live country.
