History

Front Street Brewery, Iowa's oldest brewpub, was founded in 1992 by brewer and engineer Steve Zuidema with Jenni Ash in the basement of a 100-plus-year-old building on River Drive (historically Front Street) in downtown Davenport's old Bucktown neighborhood. It opened with a 7-barrel brewhouse when almost no other brewery was operating in Iowa. Months later, the Great Flood of 1993 submerged the basement brewery and the pub; the flagship beer Raging River came out of that flood. The pub and eatery is at 208 E. River Dr. (frontstreetbrew.com/history; Iowa Brewers Guild directory)
