The Blue Light Live, at 1806 Buddy Holly Ave. in Lubbock’s Depot District, was founded by Tom McDonald in 1999 next to Tom’s Daiquiri, which he opened in 1997. David and Stephanie Brooks took ownership in 2006; Dustin Six, a bartender at Tom’s from 2006, became co-owner in 2013. Monday songwriter nights there launched or shaped Texas acts including the Josh Abbott Band, Wade Bowen, William Clark Green, and Flatland Cavalry. The club marked 25 years in August 2024 (Lubbock EDA; KCBD; Lubbock Cultural Arts).
