XKYLAR is a Los Angeles singer, producer, DJ, and visual artist whose June 26 debut EP Why Is Nobody Dancing? moves through indie dance, electro-pop, and electroclash. In an OMG.BLOG interview she said the project started after nights out in Los Angeles where nobody was dancing, and the eight tracks, including “Parties in LA,” “Speakers,” and “We Are the Night,” push back at image-first club culture. She reconnects 2000s electroclash energy with a modern punk-electronic finish rather than treating it as a revival act. She opens Lauren Sanderson’s date at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall.
