The Backfires

Bio

The Backfires are an indie-rock band with members from the United States and the United Kingdom. Ticketmaster's biography says Alex Gomez, Harry Ruprecht, and drummer Max Wanduragala started the group in London in late 2018 while at university, and bassist Matt Walter joined in mid-2019. Debut single "Anything" came out October 16, 2020, and the EP Consider the Backfires on February 19, 2021. The band has said the name comes from a backstage-door sign at New York's Mercury Lounge, where they played their first New York show, and that debut album This Is Not an Exit was written after they began living together in New York in 2022.
