A local group bought a long-vacant downtown Fresno office building at Fulton and Divisadero and, with Tony Martin—formerly general manager of Club Fred—opened Fulton 55 for its first show on January 28, 2011. The roughly 500-capacity room was built as a music venue rather than a neighborhood bar, mixing DJ nights, local bands, and touring acts such as Dinosaur Jr., Los Lobos, and Sir Mix-a-Lot. It shut down in 2020 for the pandemic, streamed some shows, and later reopened.
