The Guild Theatre at 949 El Camino Real in Menlo Park opened in 1926 as the Peninsula’s first movie theater, a single-screen house that later ran as a Landmark art cinema until its last screenings in 2019. The nonprofit Peninsula Arts Guild, led by Drew Dunlevie, put about $35 million into renovating the old cinema as a live room. A private opening on February 24, 2022, was followed the next night by the first ticketed public concert, Robert Glasper. The theatre, with room for almost 500, books touring rock, jazz, folk, and pop, along with film, comedy, and other events.
