The Lockview
Downtown · 207 S Main St, Akron, OH
Danny Basone bought 207 S. Main St. in downtown Akron in 2001 and ran it as the Lime Spider, an original-music club named for an obscure ’80s band; The Black Keys played an early show there, and grilled cheese was cooked onstage between sets. In 2007, as small national tours skipped Akron for Cleveland, he turned the room into The Lockview, named for its view of Lock 3. The restaurant became known for a menu of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, homemade tomato soup, and craft beer. The space had earlier been Stone’s Grill and Mr. Bilbo’s.
